This is definitely a dangerous career choice. Thanks for giving me something interesting to think about.

This was great! It's so funny because I was just thinking about writing a story with literal lightning captured in a bottle. It never came to fruition, but I'm happy I still got to read a good story about it 😁

Thanks, Brian! That's pretty crazy that you were just thinking about writing a lightning story, what are the chances?

Almost as crazy as lightning in a bottle 😁

I remember when I was a kid and there was a lightning storm. My mother stood at the door, frantic. We had to come in the house: not now, but right now! We couldn't stand at the windows to watch, either. And then she told us. When she was a young school girl in Holland, before the war, there was a sudden storm, and a cow was hit by lightning no less than a dozen feet from where they were standing. Cool story that it could bring up that memory for me.

Wow, that's an amazing story! Lucky it was the cow that got hit, not one of them! Thanks so much for sharing this memory and for reading "Lightning Bottlers".

Here in Arizona, we're in full monsoon rain storm season. We love lightning, and I think it's very cool. I enjoyed this story's "voice" very much!

We live in a more northern area of the state, but our summers can get up to 105 (for a week), verses 115 or 120 (all summer) down in metro Phoenix. We use a swamp cooler, fans, and then turn on the AC when it's over 85 or 90. If you have a moment, I'm fairly new to Substack. Feel free to take a look at my Publication. 😁
